MarineTrack push on - and connect with First Light Solutions
Following last year's successful launch of their tracking and alerting system into the recreational market, MarineTrack is pleased to confirm a further addition to their family of plug and play options by announcing a technology partnership with First Light Solutions.

Fresh from success in the BBC's Dragon's Den, First Light Solutions has ensured that support for their mermaid id man-overboard system keeps on coming. Back in August 2006, Managing Director, Matt Hazell braved the Dragons and the gamble paid off with First Light Solutions securing £100,000 of funding from 'business angel' Richard Farleigh.
Central to Matt's pitch was the uniqueness of mermaid id within the man-overboard detection marketplace and his watertight patent for using sonar technology. mermaid id uses unique sonar signals to provide instant detection of a man overboard situation and enable the boat to easily track back to the point of impact.
To increase the effectiveness of automatically alerting shore authorities of the MOB, First Light investigated a number of tracking companies who could integrate with the mermaid id system and transmit the MOB alert, whilst at the same time offering rescue authorities the automated location and tracking information via their online interface.
MarineTrack have always being the forerunner of developing additional solutions to their established tracking systems and offered First Light immediate solutions.
MarineTrack was established in 1998 and has been recognised as the first dedicated tracking and security alerting system manufacturer. MarineTrack have built up an enviable client base within the super yacht sector and the commercial shipping industry with blue chip companies such as Royal Caribbean Cruises and Shell, who enjoy all the benefits of fleet management and security alerts via their intelligent online interface.
mermaid id's MOB alert system will be integrated to offer the boat owner even greater confidence when sailing knowing that if they fall overboard, not only will personnel onboard know of the event, so will shore authorities, which will speed up any assistance.
MarineTrack have committed their years of technological expertise and experience of the market to the development process with the final stages of testing taking place on the Solent in early 2007.
"This announcement emphasises the need for all boat owners to think about their safety and those who can offer support. Combining our technologies will provide greater assurance to the boat owner. I am looking forward to working closely with First Light on the project and rolling out the solution in the very near future" said MarineTrack's Operations Manager, Andy Haffenden.
MarineTrack will be available to meet throughout the London Boat Show
