Another Challenge, Another World Record For MarineTrack

MarineTrack, leading provider of Telematic Systems, is proud to support record-breaking young sailor Mike Perham on his next adventure… to single-handedly sail around the world.

At just 14 years old, he achieved what many would consider the impossible, sailing solo across the Atlantic and setting a record in the process as the youngest person ever to do so. Now 15, Mike Perham is attempting the ultimate challenge - to navigate solo the oceans and seas across the globe.

He won't be totally alone however – onboard his ‘Challenge 72'class yacht he'll have market-leading MarineTrack technology for company making this mammoth task a little easier. Offering the confidence of proven, accurate tracking and live online monitoring, Mike and his team, including his father Peter in a second support boat, will have the best possible guidance for the attempt, currently scheduled for autumn 2008.

Obviously Mike's mother Heather is keen to track her son's progress, “I will not let them go until I am sure they have the best possible chance of success and knowing they have the latest tracker technology on board will be a big relief”

For this challenge to become a reality, Mike and his team need further support. “We have already been offered one boat and possibly a second plus loads of equipment, what we need now is some serious financial commitment to make this dream a reality” says Mike.

MarineTracks Marketing Manager Damian McCann remarked, “These are the sort of challenges that we love to get involved with, I think Mike is an inspiration to us all; I've got the greatest respect for anyone who has the motivation to get out there and push themselves to achieve great things, especially considering his age. It's fantastic what he plans to do and we are well pleased to be involved”.

Mike's last record-breaking voyage unsurprisingly attracted considerable publicity with coverage around the world from The Telegraph and The Sun to the New York Times. His bravery has also inspired fellow youngsters and extensive effort will be made to involve schools across the globe in this epic journey.
